What this site does

wisepet.co.uk shows veterinary practice information, prices where we have them, ownership labels, opening hours where available, and related comparison tools. We aim to be clear about what we know and what we do not.

Information we process

• Practice and listing data — We display data drawn from our own research database (for example practice names, addresses, published prices, ownership signals, and review summaries where enrichment exists). This is not the same as your private medical records; it is information already in the public domain or supplied through our pipeline.
• Compare tray — When you add practices to compare, your browser keeps a short list in a session cookie so the site can remember your choices until you clear them or the session ends.
• Location lookups — When you search by a full UK postcode, we may ask a public postcode API for coordinates so we can sort results by distance. We do not use that to build a marketing profile of you.
• Correction submissions — If you use the Report a correction form on a practice profile, we store what you submit so our team can review it. Do not include sensitive personal information unless it is necessary to explain the correction.
• Owner portal accounts — If you register as a practice owner, we store your work email and send transactional messages (verification, password reset, claim updates) via our email provider (Resend, EU region). We record when your email was verified; we do not store the content of emails we send.
• Practice outreach (B2B) — We may email business contact addresses at veterinary practices (for example info@ or reception@ on the practice’s own domain) to invite them to claim their WisePet listing and join our Founding Member Programme. We use practice name and location from our research database to personalise the message. Each email includes our contact details and an unsubscribe link; if you opt out, we add your address to a suppression list and do not email you again for this programme. Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses essential cookies (including the Django session cookie) so basic features work — for example remembering practices in your compare tray until you clear them or the session ends.

We may also offer optional analytics via Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js). Analytics cookies are not loaded unless you choose Accept analytics on the cookie banner. If you accept, Google may set cookies to help us understand how pages are used so we can improve the service. See Google’s Privacy Policy for how they process data.

You can decline analytics on first visit, or withdraw consent later by clearing site data / local storage for wisepet.co.uk in your browser (which resets the banner choice).

We do not load third-party advertising scripts.

How long we keep things

Retention periods depend on the type of record (for example correction queue entries vs. operational logs). We keep data only as long as needed to run the service and improve accuracy. Exact schedules may be tightened as we formalise operations.

Your rights
